Cover Reveal: You Are the Reason

Isn’t it gorgeous?

I did feel like keeping it to myself, but (**sigh**) it’s too gorgeous.

Okay – let’s get the basics out of the way:
    Name:  You Are the Reason
The Tav #2
Other books in the series:  The Blinding Light
    Release Date:  7 August 2015
Davo’s a pretty average guy. He has a decent job, owns his own home, and spends his weekends at the pub. He fully accepts that he’s gay, but doesn’t want to be one of those gays, who are femme and girly. He likes football and other masculine pursuits, and firmly avoids anything that could be seen as femme—including relationships that last beyond fifteen minutes.

Then Davo’s friend and gay idol not only gets a boyfriend, but also adopts a baby girl. Davo is seriously spooked and scuttles down to the pub in fright. That’s where he meets Lee, who is cute from her cherry-red hair, to her pretty little dress and pointy red shoes. Davo is charmed—but how is that possible? He’s gay. Isn’t he? Then Lee tells him he’s actually a guy—he just likes to wear women’s dresses occasionally. Thoroughly confused about an attraction that’s out of character for him, Davo begins the long journey to where he can accept himself without caring what everyone else thinks.

I asked a couple of people what they wanted to know about the book – the questions were:

How long is it?  226 pages
Is it set in Australia?  Yep!  Perth.  Location doesn’t play a big role in this book, apart from the fact both guys follow Aussie Rules football.  And are Australian.  And have a supposedly gorgeous Australian accent… *wink*

Stand alone?  This book starts about three weeks after The Blinding Light ended.  You can read You Are the Reason without knowing the story of The Blinding Light, but you’re going to end up with some spoilers if you read them out of order.

What’s it about?  Love and acceptance.  Acceptance of other people, but mostly acceptance of one’s self.  You see, Davo…

Okay – Davo is going to need a little more explanation.  There was a homophobic teacher in Davo’s past that scared him off acting “like a girl.”  You know the type of man?  Must be able to burp the alphabet and wrestle crocodiles before you prove your manhood?  Yeah.  So at a young and impressionable age, Davo learned that “being girly” was bad.  So he went out of his way to cut anything “girly” out of his life.  No pink.  No glitter.  No femme friends.  No emotions.

It’s become an instinct to him.  He knows he’s being a dick, but he still shies away from the more sparkly gay people of this world.  He thinks relationships are for girls.  (And hence not for him).

Then he meets Lee – who happens to be dressed as a woman.  Davo’s confused about his attraction to this woman – he’s never felt attraction to a woman before.  It’s not until their third meeting that Lee confesses the truth - he's a guy. But I like to dress in women’s clothes sometimes.

Dave runs – Lee is one of those gays.  But that attraction has him tightly wound to Lee.  Davo needs to learn acceptance fast.  He needs to learn acceptance of people around him, but he also needs to let his inner femininity out.  And that it’s okay.

Warning:  Contains hot sex scenes, shitty nappies on babies, gay dads who aren't getting any sleep, one Magic 8 Ball that never lies, and stripping to You Can Leave Your Hat On.
