apogee by Julio Alexi Genao

Today I'm sharing a powerful poem with permission from the author Julio Alexi Genao.

apogee by Julio Alexi Genao

together on adventure
we climbed a foreign sky
in a clever starship
opposing foreign tides

and as we rendered gravity
another thing denied
you said you'd never felt so good
as there, right by my side

but as another sunlight
warmed our faces from the side
as we arrived at apogee
i chose to close my eyes

i didn't say i love you
and i didn't say goodbye
i knew that i was dreaming
and i knew the words were lies

at the moment of our freedom
aloft in other skies
i turned my face away from you
and waited there to die

to awaken back on terra
with nobody around
up from golden apogee,
down back on the ground.

Have a great week.

  1. Wow. This is very deep. Thank you, Julio, for allowing us to read your poem. Well done.

  2. It's really touching. Brought tears to my eyes.
