Ready for Fall by Riley Hart

I can't believe it's almost September 1, 2017. Time really does fly. I remember hearing that when I was younger and not understanding. The older I get, the faster it goes.

I love Fall though. It's my favorite season. I'm looking forward to cooler weather, fall colors, hot chocolate and hot apple cider. I love me some hot chocolate or hot cider on a beautiful Fall evening.

It's actually one of my favorite seasons to write, as well. I just want to curl up and enjoy the season and good books.

Do you like Fall? What's your favorite thing about the season?

Is Your Reality the ONLY Reality? By S.C. Wynne

I was going to give a gluten-free pizza recipe today, but then some friends alerted me to the fact that,
yet again, someone is ranting about the evil straight women writing MM.

Seriously? We're having this discussion AGAIN?

Certain people can't seem to grasp that MM romance is FICTION. It is not a how to on anal sex. (And for the record, even if it was, women have anal sex too) It is not supposed to be based on real life. It's not supposed to BE real life.

What readers want is FANTASY. That's what most successful MM romance authors are serving. MF books AND MM books are FICTION. I've rarely met any female OR male character I could identify with in the MF romance books I read growing up. I didn't throw a tantrum about it. I just moved on, realizing I was reading FICTION.

If nothing else, it would be nice if these angry authors could grasp the concept of fantasy. Because maybe then they'd sell some books. It's about the dream of love, not the day to day grind. If you can grab on to that, maybe you'll be able to write something readers want to read.

Or you can sit around and rage that evil straight women MM authors are the reason you don't sell. It's your call.

Question time by Felice Stevens

This is a simple one this week. If you follow me on Facebook, you know I have a running joke with my dear friend, Steve Leonard about iced coffee.
I, having good taste, love iced coffee. To me it signals summer and the lovely warm weather. I drink it light with milk, not cream or half and half, and no sugar.
Steve, unfortunately is misguided and does not agree. Summer, winter, doesn't matter. He wants his hot coffee. Maybe he was frightened by an ice cube as a child, I don't know. But he has an irrational hatred of the deliciousness that is iced coffee. I love you, Steve, but no. you're wrong.

So what say you all? Do you agree with me that iced coffee is the bomb?

Or do you follow Steve's misguided opinion?

Leave a comment and I'll pick a winner to receive a free ebook from my backlist.

Ask Andrew - Is this Real?

Dear Andrew

Is anal sex really like its written in romance novels?

Dear Donna

Okay.  This is an interesting question and thank you for asking it.  Sex in romance novels is often stylized in order to convey the emotion the author is trying to get across to the reader.  With that said I can say that anal sex for men can be very pleasurable and exciting.   However I do want to state that often a lot is made of the 'magic' spot.  I can tell you that's the case for some men, but not all.

Some men are very sensitive and they derive a great deal of pleasure when the prostate on massaged.  Those men can receive a great deal of sensation and it can be very exciting.  This is the phenomenon most writers are referring to in their stories.  (My husband is one of those men and he lets me know when things are just right for him.)  Not all men derive the same pleasure.

With that said there is one other thing that I want to say.  Sex is messy and not always perfect.  Things happen and stuff can get squishy if you know what I mean.  Those kinds of things are rarely discussed in romances because they get in the way and kill the mood.  So as authors we tend to leave that stuff out.  (Thank goodness.  I only want to write the hot parts of sex.  That's the fun.)  So to answer your question, yes and no.  The important thing is to get pleasure and happiness from the books and from sex.  The rest is unimportant.

Hugs and love

Ask Andrew is your chance to ask questions of a gay romance author.  The questions can be about the writing process in general, writing sex scenes, gay men, sex, characters in romance, characters having sex... okay you probably get the picture.    I promise to answer your questions as frankly and with as much humor as I possibly can.

So if you have a question, please send it to  This is different from my usual email so your questions don't get lost.  I will answer one question a week.

Please remember this is meant to be all in fun.  (I was going to say good, clean fun, but who wants that.)    So send me your questions and let's see what mischief we can get into.

Dream Vacays with BA, Julia, Kiernan and Sean

Hey y'all!

This week we're talking dream vacays!

Sean Michael

I have a number of dream vacations, but I can pick one to share today.. I would love to take an Alaskan cruise. One of those that goes up to see the glaciers. Good food, the ocean, glaciers (and I'd want to be able to go on them) and cold weather. It sounds like the perfect vacation to me!

Kiernan Kelly

I love cruising. I love the calm of it, the never-having-to-be-anywhere feel, even the off the grid-ness of it. That said, my dream vacation would begin with a long, leisurely cruise of the Mediterranean, beginning in north Italy and slowly drifting south to Greece with stops all along the way for sightseeing. Now, if we want to dip our toes into fantasy cruises (meaning I have all the money in the world and the means to print more if need be), then I’d love a world cruise on a huge private yacht with the hubs and a few of my closest friends. Europe, Australia, Alaska…all taken with a healthy serving of fresh seafood and Kobe beef served up by a five star chef in the galley, and frozen margaritas poolside.

Sigh. Thank goodness it doesn’t cost anything to dream, right?

BA Tortuga

I'd go back to Rome. Oh, y'all the first time I set foot in the Eternal City I said oh I could live here! It's so full of history and bustle and the people are loud and friendly and funny and it's a walking city. I love it so.

Julia Talbot

Hmmm. I've only got a few bucket list vacations left to go, but I've always wanted to go to Germany. My mom spent a lot of time there in the Army and she loved it and I have all of her memories to test. She loved Munich and Garmisch and all of the little ski towns. I also want to see the Barberini Faun so bad!

What's your dream vacay?

New Mpreg Release! By S.C. Wynne

Good morning, all!

I have a new release in my Bodyguard and Babies Series. It's called Rockstar Baby and I'll give you the blurb and an excerpt below. Some old friends show up in this book, hope you enjoy seeing Blade and Wyatt again. I certainly enjoyed writing this book and revisiting those little lovebirds. :)

Riley West is an alpha whose music career is exploding. While he has millions of adoring fans, he also has a secret that makes it impossible to live his life how he’d like; he’s still reluctantly in the closet at the urging of his longtime manager. Three years of a grueling tour schedule have made him lonely and yearning for something more than just stolen one night stands. He wants to come out and take a chance that his fans will still support him.

Colin Robinson is a solar eclipse omega and also a bodyguard for Shield. He doesn’t really know anything about Riley when they first meet, but sparks fly and the two men enjoy a passionate night together. When Colin realizes Riley is in the closet, he makes it clear he’d never have been with him if he’d known. It’s a hard decision because he truly feels a connection to Riley and he wants more.

Riley doesn’t want to say goodbye to Colin, so he hires Colin to be his bodyguard while on tour. Colin agrees, but makes it clear their relationship must remain professional as long as Riley is in the closet and his employer.

But sometimes things are easier said than done. Mistakes happen. The problem is, when you’re a solar eclipse omega, one night of weakness usually means the pitter-patter of little feet won’t be far behind.

This is a heartwarming, but steamy, 67,000 word story featuring a non-shifter Alpha/Omega world and contains mpreg (male pregnancy). This is a standalone story and Book Two in the: Bodyguards and Babies mpreg series. No cliffhangers and HEA guaranteed.

“Fuck. I’m super wasted,” Blade announced suddenly, grinning at Wyatt.

Wyatt’s lips twitched. “Mission accomplished.” He ruffled his mate’s hair. “You needed a night to let loose.”

“We should go.” Blade stood and grabbed the arm of his chair for balance. “Tomorrow is my morning to sleep in, and I may not get up until noon.”

“You deserve it,” Wyatt said softly, his gaze warm. “I’ll handle all the baby stuff. Just sleep as long as you want.”

Blade pointed at the sleeping infant. “You hear that, Peter? Daddy is taking care of you, so don’t even try and make me guilty.”

Wyatt stood and put his arm around Blade. “I think staying out until two a.m. makes this a respectable date night. We can still party with the best of them and go home with our heads held high.”

Blade licked his lips. “Hold on. The date’s not officially over till we fuck.”

Wyatt cringed. “Jesus, Blade.” He glanced at us, his face red. “TMI.”

“Sorry.” Blade chuckled softly. “Told you I was drunk.”

I stood and finished my beer, aware of Riley’s gaze on me.

As Wyatt gathered the baby seat and some loose items, Riley moved up to me, his eyes hooded and glittery. “Stay,” he whispered to me.

Excitement simmered in my gut. “Oh… really? You… you want me to stay?”

God. I was so not smooth anymore.

Riley didn’t seem to mind. “Yeah. Really. We can get to know each other better.”

My nostrils flared as the scent of his arousal hit my nose. “I came with them.”

He twisted his lips. “Ever hear of Uber?”

My laugh was a little too loud. “Right. Yes. Of course I have.”

Blade watched our interaction with a smile. “You coming?”

Looking into Riley’s amorous gaze, I made a snap decision. “I think I’m gonna stay a while longer.”

“Is that right?” Blade arched one brow.

Riley put his arm around my shoulder. “Colin’s a big boy. He can stay out late if he wants, right?”

My face was hot, and I was ultra-aware of the feel of his arm on my back. “I think I can handle a late night.”

“You sure you’re cool with this?” Blade’s expression was more serious than earlier.

I shifted my gaze to Riley’s, and my gut fluttered at the heat in his eyes. “I’m… cool.”

Riley grinned and released me. “Thanks for delivering him to me, guys.”

“Gee, all I can get delivered usually is pizza.” Wyatt smirked.

“Be good to him, Riley,” Blade slurred, moving in a jagged line toward the door. He stopped and faced us. “He’s had enough pain lately.”

Heat flooded my face, and I avoided Riley’s curious gaze. “He’s drunk. Ignore him.”

Blade sighed. “It’s okay to admit you’ve been hurt, Colin.”

Wyatt put his hand over Blade’s mouth. “Enough sharing, dear.”

Blade wrinkled his brow and mumbled something against Wyatt’s hand.

Wyatt opened the door and held it for Blade, balancing the baby’s car seat on his hip. “Come on, honey. Our work here is done.”

Blade gave a chuckle as he stumbled out of the room into the hallway. “Nighty night.” He waved.

When the door closed behind them, the silence in the room was heavy. I turned toward Riley, and he watched me with his eyes dark and sensual. “I don’t want you to think I do this kind of thing all the time,” he said softly.

I swallowed. “This is a first for me.” I grimaced. “I mean, being picked up by a rock star, not sex.”

God, could I be any lamer?

Riley laughed and some of the tension dissipated. “Come here.”

I moved closer and he put his arms around my neck. I hitched my breath at the feel of his hard body against mine, his erection poking my thigh. He smelled so good, spicy and clean, even after running around on a stage for almost two hours. I put my hands on his narrow hips and tugged him closer.

“Mmm, nice,” I said quietly.

He pulled his head back, and his expression was sincere. “We can just talk if you’d rather.”

I licked my lips. “Whatever you want.”

Running his hand over my chest, my nipples prickled at his touch. “I kind of want to get naked with you.”

My cock pressed my zipper painfully. “Um… sure. Whatever you want.”

He narrowed his eyes. “This isn’t just about me. What do you want, Colin?”

I inhaled his arousal and slid my hands from his hips to just above his ass. “It’s been a while. Sorry if

I’m coming off like a virgin.”

His smile was sweet. “I like you.”

“I like you too.”

“I kind of feel like you’re the first guy in a long time who doesn’t care that I’m famous.”

“I don’t.” I hadn’t even known who he was until Blade had played his CD and dragged me to the concert.

“It’s refreshing.” He wrinkled his brow. “A lot of people want to use me.”

I pressed closer, moved by his dejected tone. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s not your fault.”

I sighed. “People can be such assholes. You just have to try and find the good ones in the crowd.”

“Are you one of the good ones, Colin?”

“I like to think I am.”

“I think you definitely are.” He leaned in and captured my mouth, the smoky taste of whiskey on his breath. His tongue pushed between my lips, and I opened happily with a groan. Our tongues trembled as they slid together, and he tugged me closer. When the kiss ended, he kissed the side of my mouth and began undoing his shirt. “Let’s get naked.”

He smiled. “Yeah. Problem?”

“No.” My laugh was jagged. “I just don’t want to strip if that’s not what you want.”

“Oh, I want.” His voice rumbled.

I gulped, unbuttoning my pants and pushing them down, trying to kick them loose from my ankles. I stumbled a little with them tangled around my feet and sat on the edge of the bed. My face heated as I struggled with them. Jesus, he was going to think I was a complete moron if I couldn’t even get my fucking pants off.

“Need help?” He sounded amused.

“Nope. I got this.” I toed off my shoes, and the pants came off easier then.

Now that we were alone, I could sense his alpha much stronger. He was quieter than most alphas I’d ever been around, and until now, his energy hadn’t been terribly aggressive. But his eyes were a lighter brown, and his lust came off him in waves. I could sense his restrained power, whereas earlier he’d seemed easygoing and chill.

“I’m a top.” He didn’t sound like it was negotiable.

My stomach twirled and my cock pressed against the cotton of my underwear. “S… Sounds good.”

He moved to his suitcase that was against the far wall. He pulled a string of condoms and some lube from the inside pocket. Then he moved to the bed, completely unselfconscious, even though he didn’t have on a stitch of clothing. His skin was tanned and smooth with a swirling tattoo that ran down his muscled torso.

I finally conquered my pants and tossed them across the room irritably. Then I stood and pulled off my shirt and underwear. I moved toward the bed, aware my erection could have put his eye out from halfway across the room.

He lay on the bed with a smile, his gaze roving my torso. “I knew you’d have a sexy body.” He licked his lips. “God, your biceps are amazing.”

“Thank you.” Seemed like a stupid response to his compliment, but I couldn’t think of anything else that worked. “Your… your… uh… body is beautiful too.”

He grinned, dimples showing deep in his smooth cheeks. “You’re adorable.”

I crawled up next to him, his scent driving me nuts. I wanted him inside me so bad it was embarrassing. I lay on my back, and he moved to crouch over me. He kissed me again, deep and hungry. I whimpered and put my arms around his waist, pulling him closer. I yearned to feel his skin against me.

Hello. I'd like to share the cover for my upcoming Nyrae Dawn book, LIVING OUT LOUD.

Ben Emerson has lived by his minister father’s rules most of his life. Born into an ultra-conservative church community, he’s finally brave enough to break free and move to San Francisco. Distancing himself certainly helps create a new mindset, but living as an openly gay man takes some getting used to. When he reaches out to Xavier, a childhood friend who lives in the city, Ben isn’t sure how he’ll respond given their thorny history. Ben hopes the familiar connection will help him right some wrongs as well as provide the solace he’s been craving.

Xavier Ramos is who he is, and he doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks. Whether it’s eyeliner, nail polish, tattoos or his love of hooking up, he uses his body as a form of self-expression but doesn’t let anyone get too close. When Ben reenters his life, Xavier helps him experience the city and feel comfortable in his own skin. Seeing the world through Ben’s eyes, he begins to wonder if he’s also not living as freely as he thought.

When Xavier challenges Ben’s beliefs about sex, it becomes explosive—for both of them. Xavier breaks apart Ben’s sheltered world and shows him what it’s like to live out loud. The more time they spend together, the more Xavier begins to long for Ben in a different way—one that both surprises and scares him. But real life doesn’t fade into the background, so when Ben’s past comes knocking, old habits are hard to break. Testing the foundation of their deepening connection will take a trust that will either bind them…or tear them apart.

**Riley Hart writing as Nyrae Dawn
**Ben is from PAINT THE STARS and Xavier is from A HUNDRED THOUSAND WORDS, but LIVING OUT LOUD can be read as a complete standalone.

Flash Fiction from BA, Julia, Sean and Kiernan

Hi y'all!

Today we're doing super flashy flash fic! Tiny snippets of original love from BA, Julia, Kiernan and Sean

Sean Michael

Brook loved waking up before Seth. It let him simply look.

His lover’s face was soft in the morning sunlight, Seth looking younger as if sleep stole all his cares from him during the night. The long lashes left shadows on Seth’s cheeks, and a half smile quirked one side of the plump lips.

If he was a writer, Brook would write odes to Seth’s lips. He’d write about the kisses that moved the earth, but mostly he’d write about the ones that simply were, the ones that were soft and gentle, and the ones that were quick, fleeting. His poems would make everyone jealous of him, that he was the one who got to share kisses with Seth.

He wasn’t a writer, though. Just a lover.

Leaning in, he stole one of those simple kisses he loved so much and when he was done, Seth’s eyes were open and that half smile was full.

Brook loved waking up with Seth.

Brook and Seth are from A New Way to Dance.

Snow by Kiernan Kelly

Releasing September 15th from Changeling Press

I have a new release coming September 15th from Changeling Press. It’s a short story called “Snow” and is my version the story of Snow White. By which I mean there’s lots of irreverence, humor, and hot sex. Did I mention the hot sex?

Flash Fiction:

Deep bass notes thrummed in Snow’s bones as a new song began to play. The music in this place was unlike any he’d heard before. It was compelling; it stirred his blood, and appealed to his baser nature.

Which, if he were starkly honest, wasn’t all that difficult to do. He was, at best, a creature of primitive wants and desires. That those wants and desires were usually sated while swaddled in silks and furs wasn’t his fault. He didn’t ask to be born a prince. He also didn’t ask for a stepmother who consistently tried to have him killed, but it is what it is.

Of course, his familial history no longer mattered, not here in the Mine Shaft, the bar where he danced for coin.

He closed his eyes, wrapped his hands around the sleek metal pole, and hoisted himself up into the air, and gave himself over to the music.

Snow is a prince born of most unusual circumstances, who carries a whole lot of trouble on his shoulders. His stepmother hates him, his father’s been murdered, there have been numerous attempts on his life, and it’s not even noon yet.

The latest man sent to kill Snow adds a new problem to the list – Hunter is so hot, Snow can’t seem to keep his hands off, which is distracting when you’re trying to stay alive. His day goes from bad to worse when an encounter with a beastly creature sends Snow through a magic portal into a new world where he’s forced to take a job as an exotic dancer at the Mine Shaft, a bar run by seven little men.

It’s up to Hunter to find Snow and bring him home, and up to the two of them to keep their hands off each other long enough to save Snow’s kingdom and bring down his evil stepmother once and for all.

Julia Talbot

Hey y’all! This ficlet is about Dalion and Clint, from Fairweather Fiends, out now from Changeling Press!

Clint stared at Dal, who was lounging on a long leather couch, feet hanging over the side. The hotel was an antique from mining days, and the furnishings looked about that old, as well. “So, are we actually gonna do any ghosthunting on this ghosthunting trip?”

“Is that like that line in Jurassic Park? Are there going to be dinosaurs on the tour?” Dal’s smile said Clint was about to get fucked with. And not in the fun, spanky way.

“Hey, I could be getting work done,” Clint murmured. Houses didn’t just flip themselves. “Instead, I end up hauling equipment around for you.” Demons. They were so needy.

Dalion slid one hand down his flat belly, a motion Clint watched with interest. “Mmm. Well, maybe we should get a room. Make a wee vacay out of it.”

Clint licked his lips, suddenly way more interested in old hotels. “Oh, I think we should.”

Stoney looked over at his napping husband, shaking his head. A gay-friendly resort. Out here in the boonies. Christ on a sparkly pink pogo stick.

It had been a stupid idea. Ridiculous.

But it had worked, hadn't it?

Twelve weddings, three team-building deals, eighteen couples booked for a fucking romantic Valentines Day ski and hot chocolate fest. They were full for July Fourth for two years, already.

Lord have mercy, he was overwhelmed and busy and happy and so fucking proud...

Ford cracked an eye. "Babe, you're thinking again."

"I'm allowed."

"Nah, overthinking is my job. You're a cowboy of action." Ford reeled him in and held him close. "It's snowing. We're alone. The door is locked. Surely you can find something fun to do."

Stoney leaned over, bit Ford's bottom lip. "I reckon."

His phone began to ring and he reached back, turned it off. The ranch could wait

Stoney and Ford are in Commitment Ranch, from Dreamspinner Press. They also feature in the upcoming Finding Mr. Wright which is on preorder here!

Buy Books For a Great Cause by Cardeno C.

Happy Monday. As you may have seen in past posts from me, OneNTen is a wonderful LGBT+ youth organization. They provide homes, schooling, food, a community space, and so much more. Recently, OneNTen suffered an arson and lost their community center. They're rebuilding and they need appliances for their kitchen.

All of the funds go directly from the auction winners to OneNTen (which is a 501(c)(3) and therefore the donations are tax deductible).

I donated my entire backlist in ebook as well as some audio books.
If you want to bid on them or any of the other prizes up for grabs, please take a look at the Facebook group Michelle set up up.

If you want to send a donation to OneNTen unrelated to the auction, you can do that directly at this link.

And if you're in the market for clothes and you live in the U.S. or Canada, check out this online Lularoe store set up by a supporter who is donating 25% of sales to OneNTen.

Scary World by S.C. Wynne

Most days I try very hard to ignore the world as much as possible, but lately that isn't easy. Between North Korea threatening the US and our own president saying threatening things back, it gives me an ulcer.

Sometimes I think I should just never look at the news, but I know that sticking my head in the sand won't solve anything either.

What about you? Do you feel it's better to keep up on every depressing detail, or do you prefer to pretend everything will be okay? It's not like anyone in charge is asking what we want to do about all of this anyway, so maybe the head in sand technique is best!

Well, it's the weekend so I guess I'll just try and relax and not worry about any of this until Monday, when I can start worrying all over again.

New Release by Felice Stevens

I have a new release and I think they may be the sweetest couple I've ever written.
Under the Boardwalk is a sexy sweet romance about two men—Alexi Kharpov who is hiding his life and Cam Maxwell, who lives his life to the fullest, though it seems he has some secrets of his own. They meet on the iconic Coney Island Boardwalk and sparks fly.
This is the second book in the Landmark series Kade Boehme and I are writing; Ferry Tale was first. We will write more books separately and co-write others. I have an idea for my next book in the series and I'm looking forward to writing it.
Here is the beautiful cover and links:
Hope you enjoy! And if you have a chance, please leave a review. Even a few lines help. 😊😊

Ask Andrew - Challenges

Dear Andrew

Is there anything that you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Dear Dawn

I always find each story a challenge.  I hate the thought of writing the same story over and over again.  I have written many stories over the past decade and I never want any of them to become stale or to follow a single formula too closely.  I write romance, so a happy ending is expected, but its the ending is achieved that brings the story to an amazing end.  I want the journey through the story and then the ending to be one that twists and turns so the reader isn't quite sure what is going to happen next.

I have written many kinds of stories with multiple types of characters and situations.  So coming up with something different and unique is a challenge.  I am writing a story right now that started with the idea... I inherited a cemetery.  Its not a paranormal, but a situation that intrigued me after seeing that a cemetery in my home town was actually up for sale.  Go figure.

It important to keep my writing a new and fresh for my one hundredth story as it is for my second or third.  Readers deserve a new reading experience with each book they pick up and I need something different and new to keep the creative juices flowing.  That is always a challenge.

Hugs and Love
